Hello,

I've just got a Dell Inspiron 1525. It had OPENSUSE OS already on it. Wanted to change to Windows Vista.
I inserted Boot Dvd and proceeded. However, in collecting info stage at Where to install windows, it showed that it had 4 partitions:

Partition 1: 2.0GB- Primary
Partition 2: 2.0 Gb -
Partition 3: 20 Gb
Partition 4: 125 Gb

Couldn't install Vista in any of the partitions.
Partition 1 & 2 because too small (lacking 5132 MB free space)
Partition 3&4: Windows cannot be installed because it has not been formatted as NTFS.

Can s.o plz plz help me.

Hye,

OpenSuse is install on what partition? can you use a partition editor in opensuse to format the other partition to either fat32 or ntfs?

Also normally, when installing it offers the option to format, please have another look while installing, read the information giving when running the installer

hi,
thx a lot 4 ur reply.
Opensuse is installed on the partition 1.
No, i don't know about any "partition installer" on opensuse. In fact, i've never even heard of Opensuse, till now.
yeah, i get the option to format the 125Gb and 20Gb partitions but on doing so it says error.

Hello Does it give any detail about the error? Do you know how to use fdisk? its a windows utility to create partition, have you tried it?

hi,
thx a lot but i managed to solve the prob...at last :)
Got the solution here, while reading abt some other guy who wanted to dwngrade to XP.
Had to disable flash cache and set SATA op to ATA from Bios...could then install XP.
Used it to format the 2 big partitions as NTFS & could then install Vista.
Anyway, its ok now (touch wood).
thx again 4 ur concern, means a lot.
ciao
