Monitor switchs off and on Closed

Hi there,

     Im hoping someone out there can help me. My tower powers up with no issues. However the Monitor comes up as *Out of Range*.. I tried to hook up a diff  test monitor to the PC, one which i know works fine. All the Monitor does is "the power light keeps switching off and on and the screen is black. I plugged this test Monitor back into a secondary PC and it functions fine. I have to presume therefore its an issue with my PC, though i dont know what the issue could be.
Does anyone have any idea's. BTW the original Monitor that was specifying *Out of Range* was working fine. I shut it down for a time say a few months due to a move. When i powered the system back up, This is when all the problems started.

hello,

is it a crt or lcd monitor? CRT monitors are quite sensible to humidity, it happens that they dont work properly due to that, , Did you increase your screen resolution meanwhile? to me the "out of range" message is to inform that the resolution output by the video adapter is too high and not supported byt this monitor :) i suggest you to switch the pc resolution to 800x600 and try the "defective" monitor,
