Problem with DVD/CD drive

Hello,
My HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4244N in E drive doesn't reconginze CD when I insert it. It reads dvd's but doesn't read any cd. On inserting a cd the drive led illuminates for some time dut it doesn't recognise the cd in the drive,
Please help

Configuration: Windows XP Professional

Dear Sir,

I think that you must have installed a software which caused this, or your DVD drive is may be damaged and won't read cds anymore!

I will advise you to use it on another computer to see if it's a hardware problem or not
