Cannot be seen online when hosting COD4 multi

Hello,
Hi i have COD patched to version 1.7.568 running on Windows 7 and Vista when i host a game iether as a casual sever or dedicated server my freinds cannot see me online.
i have disable all firewalls and we are both running the same version of the game are we missing a step?
launch multiplayer game
slect setup a game
select game type
slect map
select ping 999 max
select password
select hardcore game mode
limit player numbers to 10
press start game
the game loads and i select my pleyer and weapons then land in the map .
my freind tells me he cannot see me in his server list
