Black Screen when plugged in

Hello,

My dell inspiron 1501 works great when not plugged in, when the power cord is plugged in it doesnt power down the screen goes to black. To function i have to unplug the power cord and re-boot>

Please help

its either a problem with the adapter or the battery

i will advice you to take it to a qualified technician and make a check
