Hello,
I downloaded my emails with Thunderbird and now it deleted them from the Gmail server. Can I restore them to the server somehow? Can I prevent Thunderbird from repeating that?

Dear Sir,

I don't believe that there is any way to restore your emails

and if you see that you are having such troubles with

thunderbird, just stop using it.

Thanks.
You can easily restore them: connect Thunderbird via IMAP to Gmail (activate IMAP there before in "settings"), then move (i.e., copy) the messages back into the IMAP folder from the local folder.

Done.

It's not thunderbird, I had the same problem - it's gmail - there is a setting in GMAIL to specify what to do after a message has been retrieved, you need to set this to 'leave it in the inbox' and don't have google archive it.
Thanks Jones, I cant believe that guy said to stop using Thunderbird. geesh
