Connecting Laptop to Tv

Hello,
I have a hp laptop and i was using a VGA connector to hook up my 42" LCD. It was working and everything was good but now it is saying its not supported and i dont know if i need to change a setting or what. Could anybody help me?

press FN key+ F4

this will swap the screen
