the power box on the back has a red switch that changes the Vac from 115 to 230 (thats the numbers on my machine at least). i know that with my PC if i have it set to 115 the computer will not startup properly or at all for that matter, just the lights and the ocasional screen refresh. see if changing the switch might get it working properly.

ps :: i dont 100% understand how this stuff actually works but from experiance the switch can mess up allot of stuff :D
