No sound on hp pavilion dv2000.

Hello,
Please help… I have no sound on my hp pavilion dv2000… I’ve already tried downloading driver software http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ and media device: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ The first time I tried this, it worked temporarily. As soon as I shut my laptop off. The sound went away. I tried the same steps and it would not work anymore. What can I do?????
