No sound

Hello,
i need help i recently formatted my desk top computer in return i have no sound, i checked the hardware it says its working properly but yet i hear nothing also i checked the cables on my speakers and they are plugged in.
some one suggested i reinstall my sound card, i have no idea how to,
any suggestions would be of great help

Go to hardware on My Computer - System Info, and select your sound card. Go to driver and select uninstall. Reboot your machine and you will get a "found new hardware" message. It will reinstall the driver automatically if one is available. Otherwise you would have to go to your manufacturer's CD or web site if it is some special sound card. Only other thing I've seen is where your configuration is specifying a 32 bit card but you only have a 16 bit card. You should be able to change on the same config screen.

I'm not an expert but I hope this helps.
