Formatting bu harddrive cannot be recognized

Hello,

my computer suddenly hangs and when i restart it.. it appeared that the harddrive cannot be read.. i tried formatting it but while on the proccess of reformatting there suddenly appeared that the the unit cannot locate the a hard disk drive... that it may turned of...
