SystemRestore not working (regedit.sys error)

Hello,

I have the following problem:

When trying to run the System Restore a message box says:

Error: Unterminated string constant
Code: 800A0409
Source: Microsoft VBScript Compilation Error

I suspect it started after I had used a malware removal program and deleted a few files that were not possible to quarantine. I'm running Windows XP.

I am a photographer and have years of my work on my PC, most backed up of course but tons of other important files as well. Can't even think of having my PC kaputt! System Restore is such a vital tool!
