Hi there,
Since you mentioned you recently formatted your machine,its normal that you will not get sound and other hardware output like internet connection, good display and other until you do not install the drivers. Use your driver cd for the laptop ,browse it and install all drivers needed.
If ever you lost driver cd or cd is damaged its possible to download the from the web directly from manufacturer website.
