is the external hard drive formatted for the Mac? Does the XP have a special driver for the Mac formatted disk? The only other option is formatted with FAT32 and the Vista computers should read that formatting OK.

no additional formationg i just plug it to xp or mac and it works that is it. I do not want to format it i want to access to the existing files on it.
