Do I need a router to play COD online?

Hello,

What up everybody! Quick question for everyone, just got comcast to install internet at my new apartment. Its not a wireless modem so I thought I could just take the ethernet cord from the modem to my xbox, go on xbox live &nd spend endless hours playing COD but for some reason its not connecting? Can I even do it this way to play online or do I need to get a router and another Cat-5 cable?

No need for a router if you only have one device connected.

If you connected to a computer using the USB port on the modem then the ethernet port is disconnected.

You don't need a router to do so and now enjoy the greatness of this game ;-)
