My pc works fine in safe mode but Closed

My pc  works fine in safe mode but hangs in Xp mode and some times does not boot.
What might be the problems??

Please carry out a virus scan, check whether you have too many files 

stored on your hard drive and also please check whether the virtual 

memory is not too low.
