No bootable device, ?????
Closed
Hello,
We have a toshiba satalite L355D, never any problems, but the other day came home to find it in DOS mode with the message No bootable device, insert boot disk and press any key. We don't have any boot disk, and don't know what the message means, tried to call tech support at toshiba but couln't understand a word they said. Any suggestions?

My Dell c800 did the same with a known good harddrive.
In the bios it did not see it either.
The fix was to disconnect the cmos battery and
reconnect it. Because its alot of work to do that
I installed a new battery.
As you can see, so far, so good!

this probably means that your hard disk has died. Hence, no bootable device found.
