Hello,

I have an Excel report that was created a while ago, inherited and now I am trying to make it easier to get the data. The issue I'm having is that for some reason in whichever cell I write, for example 01/04/2010, it automatically transforms it to 01/01/1904. That is after I tried difernt date values, formatting it differnetly and in different cells. I guess is because the file might've been created in a differnt version of Excel and then jsut updated with the data everyday.
Anybody got any suggestions? I would really hate to recreate the file in the new Excel 2007. Copying in pasting cells from other files did not work either.

Thanks!

the date format is the issue, could be both 1904/1900 issue and regional setting where one in expecting date to me in Mm/dd/yy format or dd/mm/yy format

From Ms folks
"Excel supports two date systems: the 1900 and 1904 date systems. The default date system for Microsoft Excel for Windows is 1900. The default date system for Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh is 1904. You can change the date system. On the Tools menu, click Options, click the Calculation tab, and then select or clear the 1904 date system check box.

The date system is changed automatically when you open a document from another platform. For example, if you are working in Excel for Windows and you open a document created in Excel for the Macintosh, the 1904 date system check box is selected automatically. "
