I little more information would be nice. Like the type of computer if it's even a computer that you have problems with.
Does the computer still give the Windows welcome sound? If so, that would indicate a problem with the screen. If it's a laptop - then you might have problems with the "inverter" or "backlight" neither of which is fixable by the end user.
