first at least in my region the time is entered like this
10:49
12:12
etc a colon between the minutes and seconds.
suppose the first time is in A1
and second in B1
in any cell e.g. C1 type this formula
=B1-A1
format C1 as time without AM or PM
in C1 you will get 1:23 (not 1.63) means one minutes 23 seconds.
