Hello PFK
Here is what I believe to be the solution.
1.Open you browser to your favorite Yahoo page
2. Click on start
3. Click on run
4. Type regedit (this will open the registry editor)
5. Press ctrl+f
6. In that search window type exactly (no error please) : http:/en.us.acer.yahoo.com/
7. Press okay
8. Once the search has stopped, ensure that you read: http:/en.us.acer.yahoo.com/
9. Press Delete and confirm your choice
10. Close the registry editor
11, Return to your browser
12. Click on tool then on Internet options
13. Click on current page
14. Click on apply.
There it is done
Let me know how if it worked and I am pretty sure it will.
Regards

Hello PFK,
You must therefore make your favorite page your default page.
Please, once your are on your favorite page, click on Tools then on Internet options then on the first button on the left of default page (actual page) it will show yahoo.com, then on default page; after which at the bottom of the window, click on apply. Works like a charm.

Try to check other Yahoo or Acer related applications, maybe there is setting to set default webpage to http:/en.us.acer.yahoo.com/. You just need to change or disable this setting if it's found.

Hello again,
Please try a shorter search such as yahoo.com. But before deleting the key, please ensure that it refers to Acer.
It is strange as I have done it many times, just going on Yahoo.com, internet options, click on current page and apply.
Have you tried with another home page such as Google just to see if it works? If it does, we would be facing another type of problem.
I have Win XP and IE8
Best regards

Hello, I'm back,
In your about blank page, top of the page, please type www.yahoo.com and press enter.
You will see at the top of the Yahoo page: My Yahoo and next to it "Make Y! Your homepage.
If that does not fix it, I'll eat my socks!
Let me know
It's a pleasure to help.
(P.S. Please God I really not hungry for socks.)

I have not given up JFK. I will make Yahoo your home page even if I have to travel to your desktop.
The reason that I am incapable to give you proper indication is that my Yahoo is not in the same country. For some reason I cannot reach the USA site.
I am sure there is a way on the Yahoo site to make Yahoo your homepage.
In any event, if I were you, once on the site, I would try again the Internet options, click current page and apply. It has to work.
For you I found these US links:
https://help.yahoo.com/kb/homepage
https://help.yahoo.com/kb/account
Sorry about that chief

JFK,
I forgot to tell you, this would be a great time for you to upgrade to Internet Explorer 8, which may solve problems. I have it and it works just fine.

I tried it all again without luck. The good news is you have upgraded me from PFK to JFK which is great. Other than I was shot and killed may years ago. Still the name JFK is worth more than PFK so I'm feeling good.
Maybe I'll try the upgrade.
Thank you for trying, you have been great.

Hello,
From chicken to president is quite a promotion indeed! However, by respect, if your real initials, I would prefer referring to you as PFK.
The reasons why I suggested to you to upgrade to IE8 is that you may receive better security support from Microsoft when you do your regular Windows updates. The second is that the installation may repair you Yahoo homepage default settings.
Finally, if the upgrade does not repair it, I would suggest to you that you sent me the link to your Yahoo Homepage I will try to edit the registry.
Being in Canada, I do not have access to Yahoo USA or anywhere else in the World.
Regards
Jules

Hello PFK,
Sorry that the upgrade did not work. However, I have not given up and I have another solution up my sleeve.
When you return, I would appreciate that you give me the link to your Yahoo homepage and I shall rush the solution to you.
Best regards
P.S. So you are comfortable in your chicken skin then that of a president. Who knows, may be, long after I have departed, some young chick will get elected president!:)))

I have the same problem; but I fixed it by going to run and typing regedit and clicking the OK button to get into my registry. Go to the tools link up top and left click onto Edit, then a small menu appears. Now left click Find, and type or paste in the URL address you already have as you said is. http://en.us.acer.yahoo.com I prefer to copy and paste the URL Address in so I don't make an error typing it in. Now click the Find Next button. The first file that comes up will say Search Page. Right click on the Search Page file icon that will be highlighted to the right, then left click Modify then change the URL Address in the box that appears to the homepage URL Address you want your homepage to be, then click the OK button. Now go back to the toolbar by doing the same thing. Go up top and left click edit once again and left click find and enter the URL Address again into the white bar that says Find What: and then click the Find Next button. Now you'll see a file saying Start Page, right click on that and click on Modify again and change the URL to the homepage you want, Click OK. That worked for me. I still have to do that procedure when I want to change my homepage to something else because it's blanked out where I can't change it in my Internet Properties. I would have to crash my computer to get it working again and it's not worth the hassle.
Dear Sir,
You can also download an Internet Explorer Error Repair Tool and use it to solve the problem that you are actually having. You will just have to carry out a scan with it and click on repair for getting free of the specific trouble.
Regards.
