IPod Shuffle (1st Gen) Charges, cant be read.

I recently plugged my iPod Shuffle(1st Gen) into the USB of a Ubuntu machine and ever since then I haven't been able to get my home computer to read it. It still charges... but there's indication in device manager that there's an unknown device connected via USB anywhere. Same thing when looking at my computer for my current connect devices. I haven't been able to find a method to "hard reset". I'm out of ideas. Any ideas?
