Headphones wont work

Hello,
I have an E machine with windows vista. My speakers work great, but when I plug in my headphones the speakers still work but the headphones wont. Please help as I take on line classes and have live chats and it is easier to listen with headphones.

Dear Dee,

You should change the Advanced Speaker Settings in the Sound and Audio settings found in the Control Panel. Change it to headphones and get the problem solved.
