If you added a new DVD drive you may not have set the jumper to "slave" - you now have two "master" drives. First remove the cable from the DVD drive (you jdo not have to remove it) then reboot. If the computer now works you have identified the problem. Remove the DVD drive and set the jumper to "slave".
