Downgrading to XP

My Toshiba laptop came with Vista. I've tolerated it as long as I can. Vista makes me want to break things, and I want it off my machine. My desktop is a Dell running XP. I have the recovery discs for my Dell. I'm wondering if I can use those discs to install XP on my Toshiba.

I'm figuring it can't possibly be that simple, but I need to know my options. I'm not upgrading to Windows 7 because I don't want to reward the company with more money for making such a poorly designed product.

Is a downgrade to XP doable with the discs I have?

Hi there,

If your laptop came with vista then definitely recovery cd is made for vista and for downgrade you will need a windows xp installation cd.

Thanks

Hi Closeup22. Thank you for your response. I am sorry i didnt mention before that I tried that driver from the HP wireless but it doesnt get wireless to work. In my device manager I have one item (Network Controller) still showing in yellow even after installing the device you have mentioned. Is there anything else I should do? I appreciate your advice. Thanks. J.J.
