XLS/DOC attachments not opening in Yahoo Mail

Hello,
I am using BIT DEFENDER 2009 Internet Security.I am having some different issue.I am not able to download doc/xls file from yahoomail, but it works on ZIP files. Please address my issue as most of the files are in doc/xls format.

OS:WIN XP Service Pack 3
IE : Version 8.0
