CD not shown in windows xp

Hello,
I have a siemens amilo pro 2010 laptop, in Bios mode the system detects the CD rom but in windows mode the system doesnot see it at all, i made enforced detection request but the system still doesnot see the CD , is a virus action or hardware problem, please answer me,

sometimes with cd rom it may be detecting it from the bios but then on windows it wont its a sign that the cd rom is getting somewhat damaged and hence i would advice you to change it as its not that much expensive.
