I am looking for a formula that does the following:
Looks at cell values in a particular column
If the cells have data it then copies that data to another column
If the cells have no data then it dows not copy them
So if the original column had say 20 cells, with only 3 of them containing data, (and the three cells werent together as there are gaps in between)
then the target column would only have 3 cells with values in them, and they would be at the top - with no spaces in between them.
Any thoughts? ? ":-)

I loathe to say that it cannot be by formula only as I am sure some one would know how. But from my limited knowledge, I think this all can be done via macro very easily.

come to think of it, you do not need any macro either. If you select that whole column and apply filter on that to show non blank, then copy it to the new location and paste special to skip blank values, you should get what you want
