Need to get recover pictures

Hi Everyone. Needs to get recover pictures after system restore back to factory on compaq, XP home edition. Did not had a back-up of those and I want to know if there is any chance to have it done. I know I am smart :(, and should had it backed up first, but there are important pictures I have to get. Anyone had any luck with this? Please help.
