Audio only with headphones

I have a packard bell easynote MH36, windows vista basic, i can only get audio through headphones, i cant even get audio if i plug in external speakers, I've checked all mute settings and checked defaults ive also uninstalled the realtek driver and restarted laptop, still with no avail.

also already tried system restore, that didnt help either.
will be very gratefull for ANY help, thank you.

how are your headphones connected? usb or sound card?

audio jack ? i think, there just standard ipod earphones

if you still don't get the sound, even after a system restore, then i suspect your speakers may have failed. assuming that the system has the correct drivers installed and the settings are correct in sounds and audio devices.
