I have an extre menu on my desktop

Hello,
I restarted my computer the other day and now down the left hand side of my desktop home screen I have a blue menu like what you get when you are in my documents, and it will not go away. Can anyone suggest a way of getting rid of this???
Please help?!!!!!!!!

Right click at the bottom of your screen and bring up the task manager>>>click on start menu and reset.

I right click the taskbar and there is NO start menu to reset. Any suggestions?
