Speakers not working

My speakers on my dell vostro 1700 are not working, but my headphones are. I've checked to see if everything is working and nothing is switched off. Can any one help?

Dear Sir,

In fact the problem might be coming from the speakers. Please consider connecting it to another PC to see whether it is working correctly.

Thanks very much for your reply.
But the speakers are the built in ones in my lap top.
