9 beeps on toshiba laptop

Hi folks i have the toshiba equium a110-233 laptop,it will not boot up,i have power,i have a recovery disk installed,nothing happens,on startup i get 9 beeps then nothing happens just a blank screen,i removed the hard drive and tested it on another laptop and its fine,does anyone know what the 9 beeps stand for,is it memory or bios and if so where is the cheapest place on the net to buy either?thanks in advance for any help...declan
