Lost audio output device & modem. Help!

Had a power cut recently and had the laptop plugged in and lost use of modem for dialup and also no audio. Have been to HP website and downloaded drivers however this failed as the devices are apparently missing from my laptop. Looked at device manager and can't find audio or modem.
Laptop is a Compaq C793VU and is running Windows Vista home basics.
Is there any other information needed?

Anybody know how to fix this?

Hi there,'

Use another computer to access internet and download the missing drivers from Hp website and install on your system.

Hello,


I think I accidentally erased my sound.There is nothing under sound when I go to the control panel. It says no audio output device is installed. Please what can I do to get my sound back??? I need my sound for when my kids and I talk to their dad via web cam while he is in Iraq. Thanks in advance!!
Configuration: Windows Vista / Firefox 3.6.13

I am trying to hook up my HP laptop to my Sony Bravia TV.

I have an HDMI output for the laptop and an HDMI cable. I have tried simply plugging the cable into the TV and the laptop but when I do that the tv does not show the picture from the laptop a black screen comes up that says "Unsupported signal. Please check device output."

Can I hook this up with just an HDMI cable or am I doing something wrong?

Hello,

I m using vlc player. When I download the movie It has only one dubbed audio( Hindi), so I want to download the original audio( English), I tried many time but I couldn’t. If u could help me, thank u.
