Sound recording

I have windows 7 and an HP pavillion dv6000-my microphone is enabled..boost is up but when I try to do a sound recording, I hear no voice in the pay back file...yet when I tap on the mic...that itself is recorded (the tapping) but no sound..what do I do..I have the latest realtek software if that matters. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Hi there,

Try with another microphone as you mentioned when tapped its recorded ,the problem may be with device itself.
