How do I hook my laptop to an external monito Closed

Hello, 

I have a Toshiba laptop and the screen is BLACK!!! I have a monitor hooked up to it but when I turn it on, you can see the start up screen as it is turning on, but oce it is about to actually show me everything, the monitor says, Power Save Mode and shuts off!?!?! What do I do, I really need to get my stuff off of the computer!!!

Configuration: Windows Vista / Internet Explorer 8.0

Let me specify real quick, the laptop stays on. It's the monitor that shuts off.

I found it! Thanks guys! All I had to do was F5!! I was trying F12!!!  ;)
