Dv9000 Series Laptop Trouble

Hello,
My computer yesterday was running fine, and I was on the internet. Then the screen suddenly pixelated heavily (like when a graphics card crashes), forcing me to turn the computer off. When I turned it back on, I got no boot screen, nothing. Just blank. It seems the only way to get it to work again is to keep the laptop on that blank screen until the battery dies, and then turning it back on when hooked up to power.
Whats going on!?
