Hello,
My toshiba laptop needs major help, and I dont know what to do. Here's that happened... I was sitting on the floor with my laptop, and my son ran by and stepped on the keyboard, the screen froze, so I just turned it off. When I turned it back on, it would run for 5 sec (the fan, lights, etc.) and turn back off. Now, it will stay on, but the screen is black. Is something like this fixable??

This sounds like a cracked motherboard. A replacement motherboard will cost more that the purchase of a new laptop. The hard drive can be removed, placed in an USB external hard drive enclosure and used as an external drive. There should be no loss of data.

Good Luck
