Sims 2 won't install because of my sound

Hello,
I have the sims 2, i gets to 12% and then a box comes up that says the sound file was not recognised or something would i like to retry or cancel and when i press retry thebox keeps coming up. do you need sound to play the sims? cos thats annoying! x PLEASE HELP!

WELL......
You don't NEED sound but there is some so you might want it !!
You could try and turn the sound off or unplug it and download the sims2 !!
