a message is displayed on my monitor that this copy of windows is not genuine. please help me about it

It means what it says the OS you are using is a pirate and the windows is not genuine, whether it is XP, Vista, or windows7.
This means you will not be able to update Windows.
The product key on the base of your laptop should match the windows you have installed. Desktop on back or side.
If you have installed a new OS then you need the product key for that OS.
You can purchase a product key from Microsoft or you could purchase an installation cd with the right product key from eBay which is cheaper.
