Installation of sound card drivers

Hello,

I have a compaq laptop.I would be greatful to you if you can tell me how to check whether the sound card has been installed in my PC or not and if not how can I install it along with respective drivers.

1) by playing an audio file u can check it out
2) in control panel (classic view) -->speech-->preview speech
if u hear the sound then thats it you have the sound drivers installed

otherwise install the audio drivers from
http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support_task.html
just select Download drivers and software and enter your product number
