Tv to laptop connection problem

Hello,


I am connecting my laptop to the tv via a vga cable. When I play a movie on the laptop the picture displayed on the tv doesnt fill the screen. I only get the 2 aspect ratios of 16:9 and 4:3? I am using a normal monitor rgb cable. Is it the cable thats the problem?
