Hello,

So, here's the deal.

I am using a Compaq Presario V2000 with Win 7 Ultimate and I would like to extend my monitor into a 2nd one.

I attached the 2nd monitor, and it displays what I have on my laptop screen. But! When I go to try and extend the monitor, it only detects 1 monitor!

I have a Standard VGA Graphics Adapter and on the Screen Resolution it says Generic PnP Monitor on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. I have no clue what that means.

Please, please, please, please help.

Anyone?

Thanks!

I am not sure if this will solve the problem, but it won't hurt. Whatever brand that your extended monitor (monitor not part of your laptop) is, search for "drivers" for that monitor, to see if your computer needs help communicating with and detecting that monitor. (Drivers, of course, are software programs (for free) that enable communication between hardware devices).

Hope it works~

Hi thanks for your response, I soon found out that because this laptop is soooo obsolete that they didn't have drivers for win 7.

But thank you! I appreciate it
