Hello,
I just replace the hard drive as I was continuously getting the PXE61 error message
media test failure - check cable. I spoke to a store clerk about this today and they suggest that I replace the hard drive. I have an IDE drive 120 GB... I replaced it with a 250 PATA and I still get the same message when I turn on the computer... I thought that once I had made the change it would direct me on how to format the drive... Since it did not, could this be what is still causing that problem???
Help

You need to get into the BIOS and change the boot order so the CD/DVD drive is the 1st drive. Does the Acer logo screen show you what key to press to inter the BIOS setup?
Then you put your Windows disk into the drive and reboot. Windows will then install itself on the drive. You might need to download the drivers from Acer to finish the installation.
Good Luck
