dv6xxx serie es was introduced with sata hard drives, win xp by default was not integrated with sata drivers.
option 1
you will have to slipstream the os and integrate the sata drivers. visit the site https://www.nliteos.com/download.html download the application and follow the simple progecure. (please keep a blank cd ready before you start the process of slipstreaming)

while installing win xp, there is a point where it prompts to press "F6" to provide drivers related to hard drives using a floppy drive
