Cursor freeze up (mouse)

Hello,
i added a 1024 mb of ram because my computer was running slow.
this was suggested by a tech from staples after they did a tune up.
when the computer is turned on the mouse cursor freezes up can,t
do anything. how do i get this to work?

Take out the extra RAM. Does the computer then run OK? You might have inserted the RAM wrong or it is not compatible with your computer.
