Hi tumtum,
Try this 1,
Click on Start --> select "Control Panel"---> Click on "Appearance and
Personalization"---->click on "Personalization----> then click on "Display Settings".
Now move the slider arrow to select your desired screen resolution (try
1024x768 or higher)
If the problem still exists, try installing the display drivers. You can download the
drivers from manufacture website. Just click on this link.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/siteHome?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us
Enter model number and click on search.
Then select your laptop model-->click on "Software & Driver Downloads"-->select
your OS from dropdown menu---->then download the "Graphics"
drivers--->install it and try adjusting your screen resolution if it doesn't adjust
automatically.
