MSN live virus?

Hello, My dar friend Ambucias a friend of mine was on MSN live and some one sent a message to him saying......"loo at thispicture :) and it got a web sit that you click on and all you get is some bug but no picture to look at. but i will give the address to for you but dont look at it it's the bug he got he done a scan with AVG al still didn't remove it. but it gets sent to people he chats to with out him knowing it........it's http:/www.renovplus.fr/images/view.php?gallery=PICT58949321.JPG and should i get him to do a Hijack this scan on it so you can see what to remove?

Well it would be nice to know the symptoms your friend's system is experiencing.

A HJT log is always appreciated however, I may not be able to analyse it untill later this afternoon, about 7 hours from now.

and here is the result of my comprehensive analysis:

The following registry entries must be deleted:

The above are malicious, but I recommend deleting the next if it is not considered essential.

I would also recommend to stop Quick Time to lauch at boot time as it ressource consuming (C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe") This can be done through msconfig.

Of course, as you know Gervarod, after deleting the registry keys, the normal Malwarebyte procedure should be followed.

1. Click on start and then on run
2. Type msconfig and click ok config panel will open
3. Click on start tab
4. Locate Quick Time and uncheck the entry
5. Click on apply

You will be asked if you want to restart your machine now or later. (There you will need to make a decision on your own, for every single day we must take decision such as what am I going to wear today)

When the machine restarts, a window will appear again. Check the box or that window will keep coming back.

what letters will quick time come under cos they are funny way of telling what is what and there it does not say
"quick time" in it so what would the entry look like? thanks
