Hi there
I am trying to get the files from an old pc so as advised have taken out the hard drive and bought a cable that I plug into my old hard drive and then into my laptop and open to view in "my computer"
The trouble I have is when I go to open the photos and files it says "you are not authroised to open these files" and then something about
a security number or something.
I am desperate for these files and mainly the photos that I can see are there but cant acess them its so frustrating, please tell me what I can do
Kindest thanks
Sasha

It's an issue of ownership and permissions. From Start | Help and Support
search on ownership or see this:

HOW TO: Take Ownership of a File or Folder in Windows XP
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-server-2008-R2-and-2008/cc753659(v=ws.11)?redirectedfrom=MSDN

If it's XP Home you'll need to restart in Safe Mode and login to the built
in Administrator account.
