Webcam not working in Windows Live

Hello,

I formatted my PC after getting a new hard drive and after installing everything and running updates, my webcam simply refuses to work with Windows Live Messenger. I downloaded the latest version, older versions, uninstalled and re-installed my webcam drivers, with software, without software, played with the Windows Live settings... I've done just about everything and it still won't work.

Oddly enough, it'll do a video call but the microphone on my cam has never worked and it used to let me just display video. The option is still there under Actions --> Video but it only ever tells me to "get a webcam." XD It shows up in the settings and... well, I'm all out of ideas.
